HOW TO STOP HAIR BREAKAGE

HOW TO STOP HAIR BREAKAGE

Hate it a little or hate it a lot, hair breakage can be the cause of many fallen styles. Although pretty much everyone has experienced the frustration that breakage can cause on hair, that doesn’t mean that it isn’t avoidable. If you’ve noticed that your hair could use a little help in that department, here are a few things you should regularly do to keep breakage at bay.

Get regular trims.

Though you may avoid those bi-monthly trims or dusts, getting them can actually help your hair with breakage. Healthy hair occurs when you’ve eliminated the damaged portion and trimming your ends can help you do that.

Don’t skip the detangling step.

If you’ve been passing up on detangling your hair both before you wash and after you’ve conditioned, that could be why you’re experiencing breakage. Detangling your hair – with a wide tooth comb – can help you to avoid large knots that can quickly cause your hair to break off. A great product to use for detangling would be Aunt Jackie’s Knot On My Watch Instant Detangling Therapy.

Stop drying your hair with a towel.

Drying your hair with a regular towel may be convenient, but it could also be the one of the causes of your hair breakage. The texture of towels can be very coarse and in turn, cause your hair to become dry and brittle – which both lead to breakage. Instead of using a towel, try drying your hair with a microfiber towel or a t-shirt.

Avoid touching your hair.

When you’ve created the perfect look, you may be tempted to play in your hair a bit. Doing that, however, can cause your hair to get frizzy and dry and ultimately, give you breakage.

Keep your hair moisturized.

If you ask any curly girl one main rule of thumb for keeping your hair as healthy as possible, there’s a high probability that she tells you to “keep it moisturized” because dry hair equals breakage. There are plenty of product to add to your routine to keep it at its best, but if you’re looking for a place to start Aunt Jackie’s Half & Half Hydrating Silkening Hair Milk, the Butter Creme Intensive Moisture Sealant, and the Quench Moisture Intensive Leave-In Conditioner are all great products to consider.

Reduce the amount of heat you apply.

From blow drying to flat ironing, any time you apply heat to your curly locks, you run the risk of damaging it – and yes, that includes causing breakage. Though it’s definitely fine for you to straighten your hair occasionally, you want to ensure that you’re limiting the amount of heat your apply on your hair per week.

Use the right products.

Finding the right products to use on your hair can make a huge difference in how healthy it can be because breakage can sometimes be your hair’s reaction to a certain styling product. Water-based products and natural oils like Aunt Jackie’s Natural Growth Oil Blends are great to use to keep your strands in good health.

Be sure seal your ends.

When your hair starts to break off, the first things to usually go are your ends. This is because they aren’t cared for as needed and moisture is not prioritized. When you style your hair, however, be sure to seal the moisture at the ends with an oil or butter – depending on your hair type. If your hair requires a butter, try using the Seal It Up Hydrating Sealing Butter and for textures that need oils, the Balance Grapeseed & Avocado oil is a good choice.
