NEW YEAR HAIR RESOLUTIONS: 8 WAYS TO TREAT YOUR HAIR BETTER THIS YEAR

NEW YEAR HAIR RESOLUTIONS: 8 WAYS TO TREAT YOUR HAIR BETTER THIS YEAR

With the new year, comes much promised change, but how much of it do we really stick to? From new diets to cutting back on spending, most of us who create unrealistic resolutions for the new year have a tendency to fall back into our old habits only a short time after starting. That doesn’t mean, however, that every resolution for this upcoming year has to fall in that category and your hair is one of them.

Here are eight realistic and effective ways for you to treat your hair better this year.

Try new styles.

Although you may have perfected that twist out and get compliments every time you wear the style, the new year should bring on new styles for you. Not only will it give you a different look, but it can also help you find new ways to keep your hair healthy. And if you’re in need of some inspiration, our YouTube channel can help you out.

Give it some real TLC.

Different hair porosities and textures require different attention. So, one of the main things you should keep on your list of resolutions this year is to give your hair exactly what it needs to be its best. That could be getting regular trims, taking a longer break from using heat, deep conditioning more, or even finding ways to retain your hair length. Whatever it is that you slacked on in the past, make an effort to kick it up a notch in this upcoming year.

Try co-washing more.

Weekly and bi-weekly wash routines are often talked about, but if you haven’t been introduced to the concept of co-washing, you should definitely add that to your hair resolutions. Co-washing – which is usually used in place of shampooing when you want to refresh your hair without over cleansing – can also be done twice a week. Great products to try for optimal moisture are Aunt Jackie’s Purify Me Moisturizing Co-Wash Cleanser and the Coco Wash Coconut Milk Conditioning Cleanser.

Invest in a silk pillowcase.

You’ve probably heard the curl tribe talk about sleeping on a silk pillowcase at night to help with keeping their curls in line, but that doesn’t mean you’ve listened. That is, until now. Sleeping on a silk pillowcase can prevent your hair from encountering dryness and breakage so investing in one – or two – will be extremely helpful for your hair in the long run.

Moisturize more than you did last year.

Everyone’s hair may require different treatment, but one thing every texture is always in need of is moisture. Regardless of your hair’s porosity level, you’ll want to make sure that you moisturize your hair as much as possible going into your new year. And, if you add Aunt Jackie’s Quench Moisture Intensive Leave-In Conditioner, Half & Half Hydrating Silkening Hair Milk and the Butter Creme Intensive Moisture Sealant, into your routine, you’ll definitely be able to accomplish that.

Revamp your diet and take your vitamins.

Eating right and being active can also have an effect on the appearance of your skin, hair, and nails. Eating a balanced diet, taking the correct vitamins, staying active, and drinking plenty of water can increase the health of your hair through your follicles. So, changing up your routine should be at the top of your list.

Don’t get discouraged.

If you’ve had hair troubles in the past, it’s easy to feel as if they’ll never be solved. In this upcoming year, however, make an effort to speak and think better in regards to yourself and your hair. It may be taking longer than you would like to get to your hair goals, but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible. Stay encouraged.

Treat your hair differently based on your weather conditions.

Just as you adapt to the weather conditions with your clothes and skin moisturizer, you should do the same for your hair. Be sure to care for your hair as needed per season.
